• MegaCon Tampa 2017

Usually, I attend cosplay conventions by myself or with my good friend Chris. This year, I spent my time at MegaCon Tampa working with CosACommotion Cosplay. I met them last year at the same event and we finally got a chance to work together this year. While shooting their Guardians of the Galaxy set, I was able to get in some shoots of some familiar faces as well as some new ones.

  • JWC Family Reunion – Washington D.C.

Since 1976, my paternal grandmother’s family has had a reunion every year. I’m proud to say that my immediate my family attended almost every one, which allowed my brother and I to have a strong bond with extended family members all of our lives. Somewhere around the late ’90s, I stopped participating consistently (or not going at all at one point). However, in the past few years, I decided to reconnect with the family to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones. Another great reason I love my family reunions is that we go to a different location across the United States every year…yes, every year. So with that being said, we hit the nation’s capitol of Washington D.C., though we actually stayed about 20 minutes away in nearby Silver Spring, Maryland. Although I didn’t get to do and see everything as I hoped, I did get some awesome pics. Enjoy!

  • MegaCon Orlando 2017

For the 3rd year straight, one of my best friends and I made the trek to our sister-city Orlando for a gathering of nerds, geeks, gamers and comic-book fiends at MegaCon. For those that don’t know, MegaCon is one of the biggest comic-book / cosplay conventions in Florida. Although Tampa has its own edition of MegaCon, Orlando hosts the original event and here are some pics from this year’s festivities.

  • Scoop Team’s Graduation Party

My good friend Al is practically one of my older brothers, so naturally his son Bryce is pretty much my nephew. I’ve watched this guy grow from a baby to a young man, who’s now off to college. But before his next phase of life, Bryce and his friends, better known as the Scoop Team, had a high school graduation celebration that I had the pleasure of capturing at my alma mater, the University of South Florida.

  • Illsol Gallery Opening

For those who don’t know, the Bay Area has become a burgeoning art scene in the past few years. Last year or so, I started to noticed very creative murals in Tampa that complemented the assortment across the bay in St. Pete. One particular mural that I caught during it’s fruition (as I often do) was the Portico piece on Florida Avenue (for my 813 peeps). I read about it and the artists in the newspaper, and would pass by the painting in the following weeks to see if it was finished. After it was completed, I saw a another mural being created in my neighborhood at a former Boys & Girls Club. After it was completed, I went by and took some photos. During which, I saw a woman painting another wall of the building, starting another mural. We struck up a conversation and she revealed that she and her partner were the ones whom painted the Portico piece. I told her that I am an admirer of their work, then later followed them on various social media. This illustrious and industrious couple is none other than Michelle Sawyer and Tony Krol, together known as Illsol. This year, they opened an art gallery in Tampa Heights called but what else, Illsol Gallery. I had the honor of attending its re-grand opening (since I missed the first one a week prior), and I am very proud of them for giving artists, especially local ones, an outlet for exposure. Along with favorites like Tes One, Bask, Chad Mize, Jujmo and Bekky Beukes, Illsol illuminates Tampa Bay. Here are some of the works that were featured at this event. • John’s RC Cars

Recently, I was able to take a break from shooting photos of people…not that there’s anything wrong with that. However, just as I have a few hobbies, my brother does too. One of his favorite (and longest) past times is building remote control cars and trucks. A while back we got together to capture his collection, well most of it.

  • Bell Twins’ Prom Shoot

Of course Spring is the time for dads, grads, and proms. So it’s only right that these two young men from my church graduated this year from Tampa Bay Technical High School. Also, the twins Willie and William attended their Senior Prom in their usual exquisite style, perfectly synched with their lovely dates.

  • NMZ’s Pastor Anniversary Celebration

I previously posted pictures from my photo shoot with Pastor Larry Roundtree and his wife Sameya of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Here is a follow-up with photos from our pastor’s Fourth Anniversary service, to be displayed on the church’s website.

  • Kamareya’s Senior Photos shoot

    Kamareya’s Senior Photos shoot

As you probably saw in the previous post, I had the pleasure of shooting prom photos for Kamareya and her boyfriend Javier. This time, it was her solo shoot for her Senior pictures, as she is graduating from Middleton Senior High School. Go Tigers!

  • Kamareya & Javier celebrate Prom 2017

Kamareya & Javier celebrate Prom 2017

As someone who has never attended prom or homecoming in high school, I don’t have memories of those special nights like most people share. However, I was gladly able to help create memories for a special couple a few weeks ago, Kamareya and Javier of Middleton Senior High School.
